In 2010, George Mason University Libraries acquired a massive collection of East German posters. Containing more than seven thousand objects, the collection is one of the largest of its kind. The posters are divided into five series: Culture and Science, Politics, Film, Art Exhibitions, and Performing Arts. Currently, the database allows for search of metadata, extensive descriptions of the posters, and an online map, alongside other advanced search functions. In the future, it is hoped that the poster collection will be available online. High quality digital scans of the posters are accessible on site.

This website is the result of work by a team of researchers at George Mason University. Funded with a Fenwick Fellowship through Mason Libraries, the team worked with Library personnel to port existing item descriptions into this online database.

You can search the database here.
