Modern Germany: From Unification to (Re-)Unification
Heather Perry
University of North Carolina Charlotte
This assignment was designed for an introductory survey course with no-requisites, with approximately 35-45 students, only about a quarter of them History or German majors. It was created as an asynchronous active learning exercise in the context of the transition online because of COVID-19. Students used knowledge from course readings and a recorded lecture/slideshow to analyze two primary sources from the period of Germany’s postwar occupation and then to compare their analyses via small group discussion on the LMS.
